Antique Zsolnay Pécs Persian-Style Faience Vase (c. 1888)This authentic 19th-century historicism vase (18cm) is an exceptional example of Zsolnay’s finest craftsmanship. It features an Iznik/Persian-inspired floral design [10] meticulously hand-painted with underglaze enamels over a warm ivory ground. The base bears undisputed factory proofs: incised form number 2756 (registered in 1888), size number 43, and blue underglaze decorator mark 86.Technically remarkable, Vilmos Zsolnay’s innovative lead-free "porcelain-faience" glaze remains pristine, retaining a brilliant mirror-like gloss entirely free of crazing. Gilding is masterfully applied to the front side and lobed rim, reflecting period interior placement customs. With minor, age-appropriate gilding wear on the rim, this documented piece is in superb collectible condition, celebrating the golden era of Hungarian ceramics.
