Brüder Willner was a porcelain, faience and majolica manufacturer active from 1884 in Teplitz-Schönau, Bohemia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Its historicist porcelain-faience pieces sometimes display a decorative technique remarkably close to contemporary Zsolnay production: warm ivory grounds, freely applied translucent colours, delicate outlines and gilded details. This historicist jardinière, model No. 1307, features an elaborate neo-Rococo form with scroll handles and relief ornament. The ivory crackle glaze is decorated with hand-painted polychrome flowers and gilding. The unglazed base bears the impressed BW mark and model number, together with blue and gilt production/decorator’s marks.
